Privacy Policy – Echo Extension
Effective date: March 10, 2026
Echo Extension is a professional tool designed to help users analyze and organize information that they explicitly choose to process while browsing supported websites. Echo is committed to protecting user privacy and processing data in a transparent, secure, and responsible manner.
By installing and using the Extension, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Role in Data Processing
Echo acts as a data processor on behalf of its users and/or their organizations. Users or their organizations remain the data controllers for any personal or professional data processed through the Extension. Echo processes data solely based on user instructions and for the purposes defined in this policy.
Information We Process
Account Information
To access certain features, users may authenticate with an Echo account. In this case, we process basic account information such as an email address and account identifiers. This information is used only to provide access to the Extension and to maintain user preferences.
User-Initiated Content
The Extension processes information that users explicitly choose to analyze, evaluate, or save while using the Extension. This may include professional profile information visible on the page, as well as evaluation criteria, notes, and preferences defined by the user.
When authenticated Echo users navigate LinkedIn pages, the Extension automatically processes candidate profile information visible in their active session to deliver real-time evaluation results. No data is processed outside of the user's active browsing session on supported websites.
Preferences and Settings
User preferences and configuration settings may be stored locally in the browser using secure storage mechanisms. This data remains under the user's control and can be removed at any time by clearing browser data or uninstalling the Extension.
Purposes and Legal Basis for Processing
Echo processes data solely for the following purposes:
- Providing the core functionality of the Extension
- Analyzing user-selected content based on defined criteria
- Displaying results within the current webpage
- Saving user preferences and user-initiated records
- Ensuring security, stability, and proper operation of the Extension
The legal bases for processing are:
- Performance of a contract (providing the requested service)
- User-initiated actions and consent
- Legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the Extension's functionality and security
Data Transmission and Storage
When users choose to save or synchronize information, relevant data may be transmitted securely to Echo's backend services. All data transmissions are encrypted using industry-standard security protocols.
Echo does not collect browsing history, does not monitor user activity outside of explicit interactions, and does not process content unrelated to the user's direct actions.
Data Sharing
Echo does not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
Access to data is limited to authorized Echo personnel strictly for operational needs such as maintenance, technical support, and service improvement. Echo may rely on trusted infrastructure and hosting providers who process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality and security obligations.
Data Security
Echo implements appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect data against unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. These measures include encryption, access controls, and regular security reviews. Data stored locally by the Extension follows the browser's native security model.
Data Retention
Data stored locally remains on the user's device until removed by the user.
Data stored on Echo's systems is retained for as long as the user's account remains active or as necessary to provide the requested services. Upon account deletion, personal data is removed within 30 days, unless retention is required by applicable law. The extension has limited data retention; it primarily operates on the data presented at the moment and does not store information within the extension itself.
User Rights
Users have the right to access, correct, export, or request deletion of their personal data. Requests can be made at any time using the contact information below, and Echo will respond within a reasonable timeframe in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
Children's Privacy
The Extension is intended for professional use only and is not designed for individuals under the age of 18.
Changes to This Policy
Echo may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Extension or the Chrome Web Store listing.
